Its a video one of my neighbors took of the substation fire and collapse from earlier this week. It was very eerie, but it was beautiful, too.
It took Pepco two days to turn the power back on, and from what I’ve read, some people are still without power. For shame!

]]>Ugh. I spent two hours there. It was actually a nice building with nice systems, but I could not believe how many people were there. It was nuts.

I also have to say that it seems to me that the quality of life the employees have there must be better than their equivalents in Massachusetts. The employees of the MVA seemed much less cranky and irritable in Maryland.
And on that note, just out of curiosity I asked the employee I was working with if it was possible to have a license in more than one state. He said that while it used to be allowed, it is no longer possible, and that all US states share a common database for licensing. Very interesting, huh!?!?
Thankfully, I had all my paperwork in order and I was able to transact my business there successfully.

]]>I did some searching on Yelp and ChowHound.com and learned about A&H Market, which looked good.
I also read that Harris Teeter got good marks, and since I also needed some yogurt, I decided to give them a try - and flounder fillets are on sale this week. Bonus!
I haven’t cooked the fish yet, but it did look great in the store. I’m going to try this “Baked Flounder Fillets in Lemon-Soy Vinaigrette” recipe, and I’ll post here how it comes out.

Power has been flickering on and off all night and as of 8PM EST its been OFF for about thirty minutes.
In true Pepco style, the lights just came on for ten seconds, but are now out again.

I seriously had no idea that Montgomery County was such a total disaster area. In the measly two years I've lived here, I've witnessed:
I've also read in the news about rampant orgies and sex parties, and more recently about a Montgomery family that held a housekeeper captive for forced labor.

In my opinion, the service provided by PEPCO is ludicrous and laughably bad. Thankfully I still have power, but there were numerous traffic lights throughout Bethesda today.
Who knows. Not the weather I'd guess. There was a little rain today, and no noticeable wind.

The Washington Times posted this quote from Governor O'Malley:
"This situation is totally unacceptable," Mr. O'Malley wrote. "Power stays on more consistently in many developing nations than it does now in the communities surrounding our nation's capital."
Nice, but I don't think he goes far enough.

My two year old daughter really likes it - the swings are great, the turf is great, and the climbing is great.
