This is a review of Silver Stars Gymnasium from the perspective of a parent who brings his two year old daughter to their "Little Stars" classes.
I've been taking my two year old daughter to Silver Stars Gymnasium in Silver Springs, Maryland for about a month now.
She really loves gymnastics (she could do a somersault even before we started!) and she is learning a ton from the instructors.
Is It Really Gymnastics?
First of all, the instructor refers to what I call somersaults as forward rolls and I'm certain she knows much more about gymnastics than I so I should switch. Second of all, its not just random activities - its really gymnastics! They do flips on bars, hang from rings, climb on monkey bars and kick up their legs, and even jump on the trampolines!
I should note that a parent or guardian is required to attend for my daughter's age group, but still the instructor is very attentive and aware of safety.
Safety and Equipment
The building doesn't look like much from the outside - its located in an industrial park alongside auto repair shops, but the inside its 100% gymnastics. They have three large sections:
- one with some basic climbing and tumbling equipment
- one with a large square for the bigger kids to do floor exercises and routines
- one with a long trampoline
They have a really wide range of equipment - especially for younger kids to learn climbing, balance, and dexterity. They jump over plates, do hand stands, "donkey kicks", crawl through tunnels, and roll down inclines.
Summary
Overall, I'm satisfied with Silver Stars Gymnasium. I found the price a little expensive, but I'm planning to enroll my daughter again if she's still interested in going after this class concludes.
